Fuel

The Fuel Level is an important and lucrative parameter for telematics but it is not supported by all vehicles. OBD II Fuel Level is only supported on between 52% and 86% of cars in North America. OdomaticTM not only reads the Fuel Level (%) on all vehicles but can also, in some cases, provide a more accurate measurement of the fuel in the tank in gallons or liters.

Odometer

The OdomaticTM library lets you read the Odometer on most cars from 2008 in North America. Not only does OdomaticTM unlock this important piece of hidden data but OdomaticTM can, in many cases, read the Odometer directly as it is broadcast around the vehicle without performing any invasive query.

Tire Pressure

How does Odomatic work?

We read the vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The information contained within the VIN is then decoded to tell us the Make, Model, Engine Size and Year. Knowing this information we are then able to provide you with the data to request or capture the raw value and the mathematical formula to apply to give you the data you need.

Odomatic works in two ways. It can query the Odometer, Fuel Level, and other parameters from the vehicle. Also, in many cases Odomatic can interpret the CAN messages already being broadcast around the car to read the parameters non-invasively. This ability to use existing messages to read the Odometer without using any of the vehicle’s communication bandwidth is unique to Odomatic.

Where does the Odomatic library reside? On the device? On a server?

Either one is fine. Odomatic is licensed as a library that can reside on a server or directly on the device.

I am only interested in new cars – can I license only a part of Odomatic?

Yes. You can build your own package to license. Choose a range of years or manufacturers. You can even choose the exact models that you want.

Does Odomatic work outside North America?

Currently, Odomatic has been designed and tested for North America. We are currently working to expand coverage back to 1996 and also to extend coverage to Europe and the rest of the world.
